The wait is almost over! With only four weeks left for the premiere of the final season of the CW's Beauty and the Beast, the CW finally released the trailer for Season 4 on Thursday! Watch below and read my thoughts on it!
Since the trailer zooms by in the blink of an eye, I am first going to comment on my overall first impression. Visually, I love the the new look of the show's graphics. And for that, I must commend the graphics team on their ability to bring something fresh for each season while still maintaining the aesthetic quality and tone of the show. While more colorful than usual, it keeps a grungy, washed out texture that prevents the colors from popping out. Retrospectively speaking, each season has had its "theme color," if you will. The first season was blue, the second season was gold, and the third season was red. Not only does the "redesigning" apply to the visual elements but also to the musical elements as well. Hitower Music, the company that composes the score for the series, redesigns the sounds and instrumentation of the show each season, while keeping the musical themes the same.
Speaking of music, I love the song they placed in the trailer! It fell right in with the "feel" of the show and similar to the type of music placed in the show. If any of you are wondering the song is called Bloodstream by Transviolet. A new music discovery is always appreciated for music fans like me!
Now, onto the juicy stuff! Thus far, the show's executives and producers have been very 'hush-hush' about Season 4 - not giving us any scoops or hints as to what we may expect. Keep in mind, it also doesn't help that the Season 3 finale did not leave any loose threads for us to hang on to. Everything was pretty much concluded because it was expected that the third season was going to be the last season. But alas! Never underestimate the power of the #Beasties! At any rate, the only crumb left to nibble on was the storyline with the DHS and the risk of exposure. That's it.
In the trailer, we see Vincent and Catherine enjoying their blissfulness as newlyweds only to be interrupted by a new threat. The same themes we've seen before are being brought up again. People want to hunt and kill Vincent - been there, done that. Catherine seems to be worried about Vincent - the trailer makes it seem that it could be about his 'beast' or about Vincent's life being in danger. I hope it's the latter because Catherine should not need to worry about Vincent's beast anymore. And of course, the classic conversation of what their "normal" is. No, you will never have a normal life. Once again, Vincent does not want to deal with this mess while Catherine does, in order to find the answers. Same issues, but our characters are in different places now. So, it'll be interesting to see how they handle these things as husband and wife.
Though the trailer does not give us much we don't already know, I'm looking forward to any surprises in store. I have no idea what may happen and that excites me! I also noted that JT, Tess, and Heather were absent from the trailer - which I think is a good thing because we can focus on our main couple.
So far, so good. What do you think? Keep checking back in for any more updates on the show that is approaching soon! Thursday, June 2nd, 9/8 c on the CW!
