The season 4 premiere of Beauty and the Beast is just around the corner! Having already premiered in Canada, it's hard to resist the temptation to peek and jump ahead. But fear not! For here, there are NO SPOILERS! Today, however, the CW did release a sneak peek of the drama that may unfold in the season premiere. Take a look and read my thoughts below!
*sigh* It's such a nice feeling to see these guys again! The precinct, JT's bumbling, Tess's Beyonce hair . . . am I right?! While most beasties hungrily devour everything that is being thrown at them (it's been a whole year!), there have been a few that have expressed a dislike of JT&T being the "preview" scene. Here's what I think.
While JT&T may not be the "main dish" of the show, I wouldn't have wanted the CW to release a clip of our beloved VinCat. Save the best for later! Although nothing major happens in the scene, there are a couple of things I'd like to point out.
Did anyone feel that the conversation between JT&T felt familiar? You want to know why? It's because we've already seen this conversation before - not with JT&T - but with Vincent and Catherine. Look at it this way: Tess is "Season 3 Vincent" and JT is "Season 3 Catherine." Hell, they're even moving in together! They are in the exact same place that Vincent and Catherine found themselves last year in the Season 3 premiere! Although this is just one scene, I really do hope that the writers don't recycle that same arc that we developed with VinCat and use it with JT&T. Vincent and Catherine's relationship was unique and epic and you just can't use those same storytelling techniques with JT&T. Tess even used the all-too familiar VinCat argument stating that she wanted to go back to being "normal" and "move on with their lives." Tess, you and your man are normal! Not to mention, it seemed uncharacteristic of Tess, being captain, to dismiss JT's warning. With everything that's happened, you should want to stop threats before it gets worse. But I also understand Tess's stance from a personal standpoint because let's face it - the only reason Tess ever got involved with the 'beast gang' was for Catherine. That's it.
With regards to the threat of exposure, I'm really excited to see how the world handles beasts, how society will treat Vincent, how it will affect Catherine, and ultimately how it will transform their lives as husband and wife. I think the threat of exposure has always been around, but we've always managed to steer clear of it. I'm looking forward to actually seeing it blow up in your face. And I mean that in the nicest way possible.
